Dr. Anna Nelson lives near the Arlington/Mansfield area with her husband of 24 years and their daughter. Her family loves the country lifestyle and has a barn full of furry creatures including 3 dogs, 1 cat, a couple of donkeys named Kat and Luci and 10 goats. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her family, shopping (shoes and bags, please), gardening, and working out at the gym. She is an active member of her church and can often be found in various volunteer positions.
Background
Dr. Nelson was born in the Philippines and immigrated to US at the age of 8. Her parents were both physicians, her Dad being a surgeon and Mom a Pediatrician. She got to see up close how doctors become an integral part of patient’s families-sharing both good times and bad times. She loves the personal connection pediatrics affords! Her parents were her mentors and they demonstrated how compassionate care improves patient’s lives.
Education
Dr. Nelson grew up in Arlington, Texas and graduated from Lamar High School. She attended Baylor University and graduated with a Bachelor of Music performance (Violin). She earned her medical degree from University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She completed her pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is also member of the Texas Medical Association.
Experience
Dr. Nelson has been practicing for 18 years. She worked full time as Assistant Professor at Scott and White in Temple until she and her husband relocated to the DFW area in 1999. When her daughter was born, she provided part time coverage for various doctors with the Cook Children’s Physician Network.
She began working for Kenneth P. Carlson, MD through the Cook Children’s Physician Network and has been working part time for him for the last 14 years. Dr. Nelson holds privileges at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital and the Medical Center of Arlington.
Vision
“I envision a practice where we partner with parents to improve their children’s health. Being an independent physician affords me opportunities to provide individualized, compassionate care for each of our patients. I see our practice as one that integrates current technology with a personal touch.”
